The non-profit organization, Shine on Sierra Leone, has introduced the '9 mile scroll' -- a website that scrolls for the equivalent of nine miles, in an effort to draw attention to the fact that children in rural parts of the West African country have to walk up to 100 miles a week, just to attend their school.

During the ‘9 Mile Scroll,’ which takes about five hours to complete, website visitors will be offered a visual representation of what some students have to endure each day, just to make it to their educational facility -- this includes harsh temperatures, "malaria-carrying mosquitoes, monsoons and human traffickers."

The non-profit organization behind the website created this digital experience in order to raise money to build new schools and to offer a more efficient means of transportation in rural areas.
