The 2027 Toyota Highlander Will Offer 320-Miles of Range

— February 12, 2026 — Autos
The 2027 Toyota Highlander has been unveiled by the brand as the first all-electric version of the model that's slated to be its fourth electric vehicle for the US market. The vehicle boasts an all-new design that includes broad fenders and a more angular appearance that will come in several trim options. This includes the top-tier Limited and XLE (Executive Luxury Edition) that boast a 95.8kWh battery and a 77kWh battery, respectively.

The 2027 Toyota Highlander will deliver a top range of 320-miles per charge, depending on the trim and battery, and will offer space for seven people with the third row able to be folded flat for cargo needs. The vehicle is slated to start going on sale in late 2026.

Trend Themes

  1. Long-range Family Evs — Consumers seeking seven-seat electric vehicles with ranges around 300+ miles are reshaping expectations for family-oriented EV practicality and road-trip viability.
  2. Trim-level Battery Differentiation — Offering multiple battery capacities across trim levels is creating segmented value propositions that influence purchasing decisions based on range versus price trade-offs.
  3. Three-row EV Packaging — Designs that integrate a fold-flat third row and spacious cargo areas in all-electric platforms are prompting rethinking of interior architecture and thermal management.

Industry Implications

  1. Automotive Manufacturing — Vehicle makers are adapting production lines and modular architectures to support electrified variants across established nameplates while maintaining cost efficiency.
  2. Battery Supply Chain — Upstream demand for 77–96 kWh battery packs is intensifying requirements for raw materials, cell formats, and scalable gigafactory output.
  3. Charging Infrastructure — Expanded range expectations for family EVs are increasing emphasis on high-power public and residential charging networks that accommodate longer-distance travel and faster turnaround.
