Spotify will now enable users to add 15-second clips of music to their Facebook story. If users on Facebook click on one of the 15-second clips, they will then be taken to Spotify, where the remainder of the song can be found. The new feature is directed at engagement with musicians and the company states that it is "a more powerful way to connect with fans."
Users are able to add the song clips to a story by selecting the "share" button when they are listening to content on Spotify, and can select to share the music clip on to their Facebook account.
The new feature will act as a cross-promotion for both of the platforms. Users being able to share and access music from their friends will make music streaming a more social activity. Spotify has added similar sharing features on Instagram previously.
