There are a breadth of food-based social enterprises out there (and not to mention all of the overload of fair trade, shade-grown and organic coffee bean roasters and cafes), many of which have been featured on Social Business, but those featured in this top list are specifically snacks made by social enterprises.

The most recently published profile is on Pure Fun, a Toronto-based company committed to creating "better for you" candy, which essentially means, they're vegan, fair trade, organic, GMO-free, non-synthetic and do not contain gluten. From educational organic foods to social firm community cafes and nutrition bars, these snacks made by social enterprises, for the most part, attempt to be healthy while also adhering to their own organizational mission.
