The Ferris Wheel was not initially created to be the entertainment piece that it functions as today. Rather, it was a spectacle and landmark made by an engineer in Chicago to attract Americans to the revered World's Columbian Exposition that was to take place in the late 1800s. Who knew that this creation would last centuries and spawn so many other copy-cats in design. From inspiring cycle storage solutions to serving as the centre of attention in photography or art, to being modernized in bigger, more dramatic versions of the original version, the ferris wheel has become an iconic part of popular culture.
