Dave Isay is the founder of StoryCorps, an initiative that sets up booths across the United States and allows people to interview their loved ones in an intimate setting, records those interviews and then archives them so that the generations that come after are able to listen to their ancestors' stories.
The initiative came to be over time, with Isay's father's coming out and teachings about Stonewall Inn being Isay's inspiration in recording oral history, to magnify the voices and stories that are often left untold. After several years, Isay began the StoryCorps initiative, and spent the TED Talk discussing how through this initiative he learned about the good that humanity has to offer.
Isay ended his TED Talk with a call to viewers to help him "spark a global movement to record and preserve meaningful conversations with one another, that results in an ever-growing digital archive of the collective wisdom of humanity."
