The Sea-Air Integrated Drone Allows for Unmanned Maintenance

The Sea-Air Integrated Drone has been developed in partnership between QYSEA, KDDI and PRODRONE as a robotic solution that would enable maintenance to be performed in offshore environments in an unmanned manner. The drone is characterized by its powerful hexa-rotor design that would enable it to seamlessly fly to the required location before a series of buoys would allow it to sit on the water's surface. The unit is paired with an electric winch that attaches onto an accompanying underwater unit -- the FIFISH ROV -- to get to work on equipment below the waterline.

The Sea-Air Integrated Drone shows powerful merit for use with wind turbines to help manage repairs or maintenance in wind farms and also boasts an emissions-free functionality itself.
