The 'Voyager' Can Carry Out Maritime Data Collection

Saildrone has lifted the lid off its 'Voyager' research vessel, an uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) that is designed to be able to sail the oceans and collect data of value to scientists and researchers.

This research vessel is equipped with solar cells for power, while movement comes courtesy of a six-meter tall wing. Capable of carrying out projects for up to three months in length, the 'Voyager' includes an assortment of high-tech tools such as radars, smart cameras and acoustic sensors.

This particular research vessel is specifically designed to carry out operations in ocean environments relatively closer to the shore, not to mention lakebeds. Potential applications don't merely center in on research however, with Saildrone's USV more than able to contribute to law enforcement missions ranging from drug enforcement to harbor security and vigilance of illegal operations.
