Designer Tom Dixon presents a look at the new Portable Melt Light, which is a bold illuminating design that adds mood lighting wherever it goes. It has a rechargeable feature and the. most notable feature is the visual molten detail which appears to be half-metallized. This look was originally made with the help of Swedish design imprint FRONT.

It was originally inspired by the interior look of a melting glacier, transforming this influence into a series of floor, table, surface, chandeliers, and pendant lights. To create the dynamic look, it si made through blow molding processes, and plastic polymer is vacuum metalized. When this is all done, it creates a unique kaleidoscope of orbs, which creates special flickers of light from the inside and shines it outwards through the mold.
