Patricia Urquiola follows her Mangas Original collection for GAN with the Mangas Outdoor collection. The original featured indoor rug designs and that modular abstract theme continues in a new outdoor perspective. The previous Mangas Original and Mangas space were made up of modern and minimal poufs along with other pieces.
The latest outdoor take was recently unveiled during Salone del Mobile 2023 with a highlight on craftsmanship, sustainability, and comfort. It is inspired by the look of hand-knitted wool jumpers, which applies textures to furniture that can make its way to the outdoor environment.
Urquiola explains, "Outdoor designs such as Mangas Outdoor are an extension of our living spaces, whether it’s for work, relaxation, or entertainment, and can help to offer a whole and cohesive experience that enhances our quality of life. We wanted to create spaces that seamlessly blend together with nature, and where functionality meets aesthetics. The challenge was to achieve this through using materials adapted to the outdoors. GAN did an extraordinary job and managed to create a piece with the same volume and comfort as the indoor version."
