Australian-born artist Jacob O. Rolfe is skilled at creating illustrations that feature a strong element of dark humor, while using the humor as an intense metaphor for the analysis of self, society, life and death.
The bulk of Jacob O. Rolfe's collection of new illustrations either features the imagery of a well or a casket. The caskets have several different images drawn on them in a red-liquid that could be blood. One of my favorites is his drawing entitled 'Immortality,' which features a stick figure creation of a smiling young child on it. The next illustration in the series features a cute dog with a phallic nose and butt chin. The dog is dripping the same red ink viewed in the previous illustration and the ink is congealing on the floor beneath him. This kind of satiric drawing exemplifies Jacob O. Rolfe's dark sense of humor.
