The 'e-skin' is a gesture-controlled VR suit that provides an immersive VR experience.
Newly launched on Kickstarter, the e-skin shirt doesn't require the use of a camera or bulky probes to deliver a virtual or mixed reality experience. The e-skin has been outfitted with 14 strain sensors and a six-axis accelerometer and gyroscope. It is ultra-light and comfortable, just like a regular athletic compression shirt, due to its integration of stretchable electronics that were developed at the University of Tokyo. In addition to this, the e-skin is machine-washable up to 100 times.
With this gesture-controlled VR suit, the possibilities of everyday virtual reality are opened up. The e-skin could be used for games, as a bio-metric monitor and can even help the user to write code more quickly. Responses can be sent to a smartphone, computer, or tablet, making this one of the most versatile VR suits available.
