Mozilla, the tech company most known for its 'Firefox' web browser, has launched a new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered web summary feature on iOS devices. The AI page summary feature in Firefox for iOS provides concise overviews of web content up to 5,000 words. It is currently available to English-language users in the United States. Users can activate the summary by shaking their iPhone, tapping the thunderbolt icon beside the address bar, or selecting "Summarize page" from the three-dot menu. There is also an option to disable the feature in the browser’s settings if users prefer to browse without automated summaries.
On supported hardware, Firefox will use Apple Intelligence to generate summaries on iPhone 15 or later devices once iOS 26 is released. For other devices, Mozilla’s cloud-based AI service securely processes page text and returns a summary. This functionality builds on Firefox’s earlier experimental Link Previews feature, extending Mozilla’s use of AI to enhance content discovery and navigation on mobile browsers.
