Tan Yamanouchi esign a Cat Tree House in the City of Kamakura

Architect Tan Yamanouchi from AWGL is the mind behind the Cat Tree House, which is located in the city of Kamakura outside of Tokyo. It is designed for a couple who live with their two cats, which is also the main focus of the design, treating them as if they were clients themselves.

There were three main requests of the design, starting with the freedom to select their ideal temperature at any moment. The cats are also sensitive to various temperatures and move around to find their preferred spot. Secondly, the cats would want to have their own independence but also want to be close to their human family members. Finally, they desire safe spaces to retreat into.
