Koozoo Uses Old Smartphones to Create a Worldwide Webcam Network

Koozoo is a San Francisco-based startup that seeks to create live video feeds for public areas. Koozoo's aim is to harness the power of old smartphones to let you know what is happening around the world at a moment's notice.

To accomplish this feat, the Koozoo app first needs to be downloaded onto your old smartphone. Once you begin running the app, you'll be able to broadcast live video to other Koozoo members. Also, the only way to check out live video feeds is to use the app, which provides a bit of an incentive to those who may not want to contribute.

People seem to get new smartphones every year, so it shouldn't be too hard for people to use an old iPhone or Android to record live video. Koozoo is currently in private beta testing and is set to launch in San Francisco in early 2013. Stats for Crowdsourced Live Video Feeds Trending: Older & Chilly
