Bitsbox is a monthly subscription service designed to teach kids coding through a series of programming projects. What's most impressive about Bitsbox is that it prepares kits to make apps that can function on real phones and tablets.

There are two main components to Bitsbox: first, there's the Bitsbox website that serves as a virtual tablet, where kids can plug in lines of code and see it in practice. The second part to the service takes a physical form, so that each month, a new project is delivered to kids in a box, keeping them interested, challenged and looking forward to getting a gift in the mail. In terms of teaching, Bitsbox approaches "learning to code as a consequence of having fun."
