Gifts for makers kids are likely to be described as educational activity-based tools for engaging children in math and engineering. Especially important when it comes to encouraging young girls to pursue STEM careers, maker toys encourage interactive play that introduces kids to concepts like engineering, building and science.

The Robo Wunderkind system is an innovative introduction to programming and robotics in two parts. The first part is a set of blocks with sensors and a built-in motor, while the second is a complementary smartphone or tablet application through which kids can program the blocks.

Another such example that falls in line with the idea of gifts for maker kids is the GoldieBlox and the Movie Machine play set, which engages children in engineering and animation through the creation of their own movie.
