When it comes to thinking up extreme winter activities, rather than reinventing the wheel, it seems one of the easiest things to do is to look to sports that people enjoy in the warmer months. Although this may seem counterintuitive, the challenge of adapting activities like cycling, golf, running, bowling or even something like jet skiing for the snow and ice definitely appeals to the adrenaline junkie.

To help cyclists continue pedaling in the chillier months, there are some great examples of bikes that have been modified to withstand the harsh conditions of winter. With activities like snowboarding or skiing, it's easy to catch some air on a good slope, but examples of these winter sports taken to the next level include heli-skiing and accessories like the Kitewing, which literally take sports enthusiasts to new heights.
