The New Y's Spring/Summer 2019 Colllection Boasts Unique Tailoring

The latest Y's Spring/Summer 2019 collection made its debut on the runways of Paris Fashion Week recently. The seasonal pieces boast the intricate tailoring details signature to designer Yohji Yamamoto. The label's iconic reputation of monochromatic design follows through for the season, but it is accompanied by some bright tonal options as well -- there are touches of hot pink, blue, green, red, and some contrasting designs.

The womenswear pieces draw inspiration from classic menswear structures, resulting in oversized baggy designs throughout that are perfect for layering. Some pieces include suits, shirts, jackets, trousers, pocket vests, anoraks, trench coats, and more. Some of the aforementioned bold patterns include polka dots, mesh knitwear, jacquard, and stripes.

Gender-blurring Fashion
Designing clothes that blur the lines between traditional gender categories create new opportunities for designers to innovate on traditional styles.
Oversized Silhouettes
The increasing popularity of oversized silhouettes in womenswear lends itself to experiment with new tailored structures in bold patterns.
Monochromatic Design with Bright Accents
Using primarily monochromatic design with touches of bright color accents in pieces creates room to innovate in designing a variety of color choices.
