The Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College is based a few hours from Shanghai in Yiwu, China, and offers young women the opportunity to become "the next big Chinese Internet stars."
The unique program comes on the tails of the influx of online social media influencers, who exist all over the world and enjoy popularity and money that comes from sponsorship and various campaigns. The Yiwu Industrial & Commercial College teaches its 30 students, who are all young women, how to model and also functions as an etiquette program. The school teaches students how to pose, "understand photo and video development," how to create a distinct aesthetic, how to apply makeup and how to "conduct themselves with poise."
As more people strive to use social media as a tool to further their careers, schools or programs such as this one are likely to continue to rise in popularity.
