Ivy-Covered In-Garden Studios

Matt Gibson's Writer's Shed is Compact, Sweet, Functional & Tranquil

The Writer's Shed is the name given to a compact structure in a private garden in Melbourne. The building's interior spans across 10 square meters, boasting a homey wooden aesthetic. It was designed by local architect Matt Gibson who worked in collaboration with landscape designer Ben Scott. The two set out to facilitate a memorable and cozy ambiance, with emphasis on integrating the Writer's Shed seamlessly into the aesthetic of the garden. To do so, the partners utilized Boston ivy which is fast-growing and non-obtrusive. They covered the exterior facade of the structure with it, assuring that the vegetation will also "passively cool [the abode's] interior on hot days."

The incredibly quaint Writer's Shed is, of course, meant to serve as a studio for the client who practices the literary arts.
