The Basket Bench by industrial design student Can Onart is a woven beauty. Ultra modern and sleek, the seat is made from sheets of brushed aluminum which were cut into strips and interlaced in a basket weave method.
The bench has three layers of the woven metal each pillowing up over the previous level creating a cloud-like effect. The interlinked sheets have been riveted together at the bottom edge.
Unfortunately, the design is still in the concept stage and the Basket Bench pictured is actually a quarter scale model. Can’t wait for the real thing!
