Wikipedia branding is familiar to many as the nonprofit organization's online encyclopedia is vastly popular. However, in the name of expanding and pushing the objective of making knowledge accessible to all further, the organization has commissioned Norwegian design studio Snøhetta to rethink its visual identity and create a cohesive branding experience that will allow room for Wikipedia to grow.
This might be lesser known to the public but the Wikimedia organization has more projects that "set knowledge free." This includes Wikidata, Wikinews, Wikiquote, Wikibooks, and Wiktionary. As many are only familiar with the public-sourced online encyclopedia, the owners were worried that unawareness of Wikimedia will lead toward various roadblocks in terms of expansion. The solution is a complete revamp of the Wikipedia branding and the organization, in general, to draw the attention of consumers by way of contemporary design practices.
