Empathy-Driven Virtual Reality Experiences

Peta Allows Users to Engage with Virtual Animals

There are certainly many virtual reality experiences on the market. As the technology develops and becomes increasingly democratized, brands utilize it for all kinds of entertainment purposes. Many who are fighting for animal rights are also seeing the potential VR tech and adjacent technologies have for ending animal cruelty.

The world's largest animal rights organization, PETA, launched the 'Eye To Eye,' which compared to other virtual reality experiences, is quite different. The initiative allows users to engage in real-time and deeply emotional dialogue with virtual animals. The objective is, of course, empathy and for the observer to see "the world from [the animal's] perspective.

The use-case and idea are conceived in partnership with Kolle Rebbe and the message is deeply educational.
