Blending reality and fantasy, Viola Moroni has created a series of x-rays with organs replaced by pixelated graphics. The monochromatic photos of people’s insides are now punctuated by colorful 8-bit representations and the results are a visual treat worthy of the term “eye-candy.”
Adding to the awesomeness of this series are the little details Viola Moroni incorporates into the x-rays. Descriptions of each patient are visible in various corners of each picture, and as they are all female, one can assume Moroni used personal x-rays for the inventive art project. The organs she’s chosen to recreate with pixels are also ones that are aesthetically intriguing and popular, as demonstrated by people regularly doodling the brain, heart and eyeball in notebooks.
