The Vilamoura Public Bikes are exceptionally well-designed. Contemporary and minimalist, the look of these sharable bicycles go in a completely different direction than similar systems in other cities. Gone is the branding, labels and other telltale signs showing that these bikes are urban loaners. Instead, the Vilamoura Public Bikes sport a sleek white aesthetic that prides itself on minimalist elements while returning the city to its people.
Conceived by the folks at multidisciplinary office AND-RÉ, the Vilamoura Public Bikes may sport a vintage frame, but they are all about lightness and purity. The designers write that they are "truly democratic equipment … requiring a great accuracy in ergonomic study and in the visual/formal language in order to achieve a unisex non-discriminatory product."
