Fashion label maharishi continues to draw global inspiration this season as the London-based brand turns its attention to the Vietnamese Hill Tribes for the Fall/Winter 2020 season. This time around, maharishi blends Eastern and Western influences by honoring the uniforms worn by the mountainous hill tribes in the Vietnam Highlands.
The silhouettes are made up of utility vests, M65 cargo pants, MA-1 bomber jackets, and much more. The designs are customized and humanized by indigenous people, working to avoid individualism. A notable design is the Kilim Stripe Cotton Powerloom, which features vintage textiles that have been woven by hand and fused together with the classic U.S. Army emblem. The collection also celebrates the iconic 'Apocalypse Now' by Francis Ford Coppola.
