Vaudeville is thriving in Los Angeles with Lucent Dossier at the Edison Lounge. The performance group emerged from the underground art scene to make weekly appearances at the former power plant.
The spectacular 'cirque' show called "Incandescence" includes stunning aerial acts, sword swallowers, burlesque dancers, fire breathing, and "other acts of magic and mayhem," according to the troupe's web site. The artists' self-described 'gypsy glamour' materializes from fantastically creative Vaudeville-inspired costumes, body painting and headdresses.
To experience a Lucent Dossier show is to step into a sort of fantasy world. Fairy-winged waitresses deliver absinthe, surreal music fills the air and the performers occupy all corners of the bar spinning and dancing. Guests are also offered hand washing and face painting by beautiful burlesque-outfitted women.
