Pebble-Shaped Urine Scanners

Withings Designs the New U-Scan Device that Analyzes Health

Withings introduces a new pebble-shaped device dubbed the U-Scan, which is a small device that is meant to be placed inside the toilet bowl. It is a urine scanner to help users better understand their bodily functions from the comfort of their own homes. It offers real-time information without the need of sending off samples to a lab.

The scanner simply hands along the edge of the toilet bowl that funnels urine down to the bowl where the second collection device is. This initiates a thermal scanner and a pump to collect fluids for tests using a microfluidic circuit. The U-Scan requires a change in the replaceable cartridge every three months. Additionally, it is able to determine different users with the energy radar sensor that recognized “unique urine stream signatures,”
