Upstairs at Ronnie’s by Archer Humphryes Architects Renovates a Soho Club

— March 6, 2026 — Art & Design
The Upstairs at Ronnie’s venue is a newly redesigned first-floor performance space at the historic Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London’s Soho district. Led by Archer Humphryes Architects, the project transforms a former upstairs bar into a purpose-built 140-capacity music room designed for intimate live performances.

The redesign focuses on improving acoustics, sightlines, and audience proximity while maintaining the club’s legacy atmosphere. Tiered cabaret seating, a compact stage, and a Yamaha grand piano support performances ranging from jazz to contemporary soul, R&B, gospel, and classical.

The interior combines warm materials and theatrical lighting to create a listening-focused environment inspired by vintage jazz venues. Architectural updates reshaped the room and extended the ceiling to improve spatial proportions while integrating professional sound and lighting systems.
