Unoaked Chardonnay Experssions

J. Lohr Estates Paperwhite Unoaked Chardonnay Offers a Fresh Take

J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines is launching a national distribution for its new J. Lohr Estates Paperwhite Unoaked Chardonnay. This wine represents a stylistic departure from the brand's typical offerings, as it is produced without contact with oak barrels and does not undergo malolactic fermentation. These processes traditionally add creamy textures and buttery notes to many Chardonnays.

Instead, the grapes for the J. Lohr Estates Paperwhite Unoaked Chardonnay are sourced from the cool-climate Arroyo Seco appellation in Monterey County and are processed using only stainless steel tanks during fermentation. This method preserves the primary fruit characteristics and natural acidity of the grape. The winery describes the resulting profile as crisp and vibrant, with dominant flavors of citrus and green apple, which are complemented by a mineral finish.
