Nature tourism has increased over the course of COVID-19, with many consumers seeking an outdoor or nature trip over traditional holidays. Unique Ascent is one company reaping the benefits of an increase in overseas tourists. The Irish adventure company is family-friendly and offers rock climbing, abseiling, hill walking, sea kayaking, and more.
Iain Miller, the Company Director and Mountain Instructor for Unique Ascent, commented on the draw of Canadians and Americans seeking to engage in travel tourism. “These are people who have never rock-climbed before [and] rarely if ever go hiking,” he said.
These travelers are flocking to the sea cliffs, sea stacks, mountain ranges, and uninhabited islands of County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland, with tourism providers like Unique Ascent scrambling to accommodate them.
