Close-Up Underwater Photography

These Photographs Come Stunningly Close to Underwater Animals

Alex Voyer and Alex Roubaud created a breathtaking photo series that captures underwater animals at an extremely close proximity. Both Voyer and Roubaud have a shared passion for free diving and photography, and decided to fuse their interests in one project.

The duo are also interested in science and research of underwater animals and their work can be utilized for those purposes. Throughout the photo series, it is common to see sharks, whales and dolphins from a unique perspective that is rarely captured. Voyer and Roubaud make a special effort to get as close as possible to these animals, often risking their own safety in the process.

Often times, one of them may take pictures with the other one in it, exposing the scale of some of these animals as well as to show how close they actually get when photographing.
