Trees are much appreciated for their generous branches and their canopies of foliage that can provide protection from a merciless sun or an aggressive rain shower. The Tree Bus Shelter has been inspired by the forest, having it influence its color and structure.
Nicola D’Alessandro came up with a modular design that comprises a metal trunk that separates into three boughs. These offshoots bend forwards so that they arch over the area in front of the shaft. A sheet of durable translucent material spreads across the back of the structure, curving with it and glowing a bright, leafy green in the sunlight. A wooden bench makes public transit passengers comfortable beneath the Tree Bus Shelter. For busier pickup points, a series of these can be linked together.
