German art collective Mentalgassi joined forced with Brazilian street artist Mundano to beautify Sao Paolo's trash cans. The trash-street-art hybrid project certainly brightens up the Brazilian city!
The trash cans in Sao Paulo are mounted onto poles. The artists took advantage of this arrangement and turned the pole into a person, so that it looks as though the garbage can is their backpack. This creates an incredibly visual street installation that everyone can enjoy as they make their way through the city.
The artwork also calls attention to the garbage cans, encouraging people to use them instead of, say, littering on the street. It's an inventive and entertaining way to keep trash where it belongs.
