Geometrically Inspired Low-Lying Homes

Studio B Designs a Trapezoidal Home in Colorado

Located in Boulder, Colorado—the dream destination of any outdoor enthusiast—the Vista Drive Pavilion is a trapezoidal home designed by architecture firm Studio B. The studio decided to get experimental with its inspiration for this 5,501-square-foot residence. The architects referenced paintings by Robert Kelly, an American abstract artist who is known for depicting geometric shapes onto off-white backgrounds. Studio B has claimed that in drawing inspiration from Kelly, it was able to build the trapezoidal home as "a composition of solids and voids enjoying varying levels of transparency."

The geometrically inspired home has a main level and a basement. A lot of light comes through the sizable windows that Studio B installed. The furnishings and color palette of the interior are intentionally light to contrast with the exterior of Vista Drive Pavilion.
