Transit Software Acquisitions

Uber Purchased Routematch for Access to Transit Technology

Uber recently announced that it purchased Routematch, a transit software company that operates out of Atlanta. The terms of the acquisition were not made public, however, the purchase could help Uber expand its service into transit software. Routematch is an industry-leading organization that has worked with over 500 transit agencies previously. Despite the acquisition, Routematch operations will continue and Pepper Harward will continue to act as the CEO.

Uber can use technology and expertise from the company to improve its standing as a Software-as-a-Service company. Routematch’s existing expertise helps people plat ventures, track vehicles, and payment systems for transportation.
Uber’s head of Uber Transit, David Reich, spoke about the importance of public transit, “Uber knows that for cities to thrive, public transit has to thrive.”
