Beyond printers, scanners and 3D printers, DSD is now looking to take image representation technology to a whole new level altogether with the introduction of the D3D 3D scanner.

Currently the subject of a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, the D3D 3D scanner is a high-resolution device that is capable of scanning tangible, real-world objects and forging an exceptionally precise digital version. This digitized scans can then be used as input to create 3D prints. The device is currently available for a pledge of $3,200.

Just as scanning and printing go hand-in-hand when it comes to documents, the same is applicable to real-world objects in the newly emerging world of 3D printing and scanning, with the D3D 3D scanner looking to position itself as a pioneer in the environment of object scanning and printing.
