Panera is making the calorie content of sugary drinks harder to ignore with its new, health-conscious cups that come labeled with 'The Sweet Facts.'
The cups accompany the restaurant's new line of craft sodas, which are available in-house through a refillable drink station. In an effort to continue its commitment to health advocacy, Panera has labeled its cups with the calorie and sugar content of seven of its beverages. The cups hope to maintain a level of transparency that promotes more conscious consumer choices, after results from a recent online survey discovered that 99% of adults weren't aware of how much sugar is in a 20-ounce pop drink.
Ron Shaich, the company's CEO, hopes other businesses will follow suit, offering more transparent menus that allow the restaurant's patrons to make informed decisions for the betterment of their health.
