The SkyLight Lets You Mount Your iPhone onto a Microscope

— February 7, 2012 — Tech
The SkyLight is an attachment for your smartphone that allows you to mount it on top of a microscope. The SkyLight slides over a microscope's eyepiece and contains a slot for your smartphone. Once properly in place, the smartphone's camera auto-focuses and shows the slide under the microscope in crisp and clear detail. The image can be saved and sent just like a normal picture.

The SkyLight allows schools and other organizations to update their science equipment without having to spend a ton of many. Not many school districts or rural laboratories have money to spend on new microscopes, but nearly everyone owns a smartphone of some type. The SkyLight was funded through Kickstarter and is currently available at a pre-order price of $60.
