Subdued Samurai Photoshoots

The US Vogue The Emperor's New Clothes Features Asian Themes

The US Vogue The Emperor's New Clothes editorial displays a series of Samurai-esque motifs. Model Carolyn Murphy was the primary focus of the series, taking on the Asian apparel and props with the help of stylist Camilla Nickerson.

Nickerson worked with robes, thin sandals, an assortment of socks and striped skirts in The Emperor's New Clothes. These chic fashion elements were mixed in with the work of hair expert James Pecis. Pecis opted for a crop blonde wig, certainly a far cry from darker Asian looks.

Taking in the multitude of poses executed by Murphy was photographer Mario Testino. Testino relayed a series of bright colors throughout, apparent in the pops of red and blue that stood out before gardens and cramped city streets.
