'The Basics' Takes Inspiration from the Space Invader Video Game

The Basics is a line of four skincare products that aim to do it all. 'mousegraphics' developed the identity for this product line, in response to feeling that "The existence of extremely specialized products within the cosmetics industry is an exercise on consumerism." Instead of complex products, the line consists of four simple things: a face wash, plus creams for the face, hands and body.

Today, one of the best representations of something at its most basic is to boil it down to its pixels. Inspired by the popular 1978 video game Space Invaders, The Basics borrows forms from nature and animals and reduces them to just a few abstract pixels. The packaging is crisp and clean, appealing to all who like to take a no-frills approach to their self-care routines.
