The government of France has gone ahead and released a new smartphone app, called Population Alert and Information System (abbreviated to SAIP in French), that is designed to offer terror alerts, warnings and instructions in the event of suspected attacks that could take place in the country.
The app, which is available on both the iOS and Android platforms and is being released just as the high-profile Euro 2016 soccer tournament is set to kick off in France, allows users to register to receive alerts that pertain to eight different geographical zones in addition to their present location.
