Africa-Themed STEM Crafts

Teni & Tayo Offers a Subscription Box of STEM Crafts Inspired by Africa

Teni & Tayo Creations is a black-owned, woman-led company that produces STEM kits, toys, books, apparel, and more for kids. Founder Omobola Imoisili, known for being a STEM robotics and African Folktales teacher, got many ideas for her subscription box from her students and their subject material. Each box contains materials for kids to build items like flip-flops, doll clothes, head attire, and more. In addition, there is a fact sheet related to the topic of the month, information on the charity that is being supported for the month, and a video tutorial detailing how to build the craft.

The brand also themes its boxes around a topic of the month, which can cover things like fabric, tools, and other culture-specific items. Some of the items offered are STEM toys, so Imoisili runs trials in her own class before launching a box. For each box purchased, Teni & Tayo will donate a percentage of the proceeds to help those in need in Africa and the African diaspora.
