This situates Temu as a competitor to 'If Yooou' and 'Shein,' two multinational fast fashion companies based in China. As these companies continue to enter the North American market, online fashion shopping continues to trend upward over in-person shopping.

Temu does not produce its own clothing, but rather acts as a connective platform that bridges the gap between China-based clothing manufacturers and consumers in countries around the world. The clothing styles, which often appeal to European, Australian, and North American markets, are difficult to source without applications such as Temu. In the brief amount of time since Temu's launch earlier this month, the application has grown to the top 10 spot on both the iOS Appstore and Google Playstores.
