Different techniques for aluminum application in contemporary design practices are the focal point of this exhibit by London-based MDR Gallery. The event brings together the works and studies of a plethora of young creatives and the contents of it seek to spark inspiration and new ideas for formatting and application.
The exhibit features works by Sigve Knutson, Silo Studio, Bram Vanderbeke, Wendy Andreu, and Studio Vit. The techniques for aluminum are presented eclectically and examples include "hammering, casting, hand-polishing, spinning and laser cutting."
While the one-of furniture designs surely spike curiosity, their experimental nature encourages playfulness and creative thought. What one can really extract from the exhibition is that the metal has quite a bit of untapped potential to the point where new structures and textures are illuminated.
