Illuminated Steel Shelving

System000 Adds Lighting Directly into a Modular Steel Shelving System

System000 is a modular shelving system by Seoul-based design studio Rareraw that combines storage with integrated lighting infrastructure. Built from steel components, the system uses powered uprights that distribute electricity through the structure, allowing lighting elements to be incorporated directly into the shelving. Remote-controlled illumination is integrated into the framework rather than added as a separate accessory. The system is based on a self-developed patented connector that serves both structural and electrical functions, enabling power to travel through the assembly while supporting different furniture configurations.

The shelving is designed as an open system that can be reconfigured into bookcases, sideboards, room dividers and larger display installations using the same core components. Integrated lighting allows the structure to function as both furniture and a spatial element within residential or commercial interiors. Tall configurations can be used to define spaces while providing storage and illumination from a single system.

Electrified Furniture Systems
Integrated power distribution within structural furniture creates opportunities for products that merge storage, lighting and connectivity without external wiring or add-on accessories.
Modular Spatial Dividers
Reconfigurable shelving that also defines rooms signals potential for adaptable interior systems suited to flexible homes, offices and retail environments.
Infrastructure-embedded Design
Furniture components with built-in electrical and structural functions point to new value in interiors where utility infrastructure becomes part of the design language.

Sectors Adopting This

Furniture Design
Steel shelving with integrated illumination expands the category beyond static storage toward multifunctional systems that serve architectural, decorative and utility roles.
Interior Architecture
Open modular frameworks capable of storing objects, lighting spaces and dividing rooms introduce alternative approaches to planning adaptable residential and commercial interiors.
Commercial Display
Retail and showroom environments benefit from illuminated display structures that combine merchandising flexibility with built-in lighting for streamlined spatial presentation.
