Switchboard Health is expanding its integrated virtual MSK care capabilities through the acquisition of Livara Health, combining specialty care navigation with virtual musculoskeletal treatment. Livara’s model brings together care planning, virtual delivery, and navigation through physicians, physical therapists, and psychosocial providers. Switchboard will embed these services into its referral management platform, allowing primary care providers to refer eligible patients to Livara providers directly through their electronic health records.
The acquisition moves Switchboard beyond connecting patients with specialists and into delivering care itself. Livara’s model has demonstrated a 43% reduction in musculoskeletal spending, largely through reduced surgical utilization, offering health plans and risk-bearing providers a potential route to lower costs. Switchboard also raised more than $5 million alongside the acquisition, providing capital to support expansion as patient volume grows and strengthening its position within the value-based specialty care market.
