A group of engineers in Romania have unveiled a high-tech supersonic drone that promises the ability to enhance the degree of aerial maneuverability and flexibility.
Dubbed the All-Directional Flying Object or ADIFO for short, this supersonic drone's entire surface acts like a wing, with a pair of rear jets propelling the drone forward. Elsewhere, a quadrant of ducted fans enable vertical take-off and landing whilst also opening possibilities for an array of low-speed movements that make the ADIFO reminiscent of a regular quadcopter.
However, what makes this drone unique is the array of thrusting systems that it possesses, which allow it to perform feats such as flying upside down.
Currently in prototype stage, the ADIFO supersonic drone is an aeronautical innovation that aims to truly shake up the possibilities of drone flight.
