Nintendo is Adding 'Super Mario Strikers' to NSO on Switch 2

Super Mario Strikers, the first entry in the Mario Strikers series originally released for Nintendo GameCube in 2005, will join Nintendo Switch Online’s GameCube library on July 3, 2025. The title is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 and accessible to subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier, expanding the service’s catalog beyond initial offerings such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, SoulCalibur II and F-Zero GX.

The game delivers an arcade-style take on soccer, featuring five-player teams led by Mushroom Kingdom characters—Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario and Waluigi—in arenas without penalties. Power-ups like shells and mushrooms appear on the field to influence play, while the timed “Super Strike” shot awards two goals when executed correctly. Players can compete in solo, local multiplayer (each requiring a separate controller) or online matches for up to four participants, preserving the original cooperative and competitive modes within the subscription service framework.
